Airbus Defence and Space Demonstrating Its Commitment to ISU SSP18
All summer long - AIRBUS - the Space Studies Program SSP18 alliance partner, represented by amongst others, SSP07 Lex Meijer, demonstrated its commitments to education and today’s talent by contributing to the International Space University (ISU) and the participants of SSP18 through various ways.
On 11th July, at the Airbus facility in Oegstgeest, The Netherlands, where the production of structures for the future Ariane 6 will take place, the young professionals of the Space Studies Program had the opportunity to be welcomed and addressed by the CEO himself, Mr. Dirk Hoke.
The theme of the event was “The Future of Space”. Which directly links to Airbus Defence and Space as well as the interdisciplinary space curriculum of the summer program. During Mr. Dirk Hoke’s keynote speech, he shared the turning points in his career and his vision about the future journey of Airbus. And most importantly, how the young, and multitalented generation can be part of that journey. The program consisted of a fun tangled yarn workshop and a few more speeches by Airbus professionals like Victor Colas and Frank Meiboom that spoke about Industry 4.0 and Innovation. One of the highlights from this visit was the sneak preview of the unofficially opened facility for the production of structures for Ariane 6 and Vega C. The evening was concluded by a generous reception catered by Airbus for the participants of the Space Studies Program, SSP18 in The Netherlands.
